Staff Spotlight: Emma Amaglo
Meet Emma Amaglo, one of Odum’s new marketing and media relations assistants. She is majoring in Advertising & Public Relations with a minor in entrepreneurship through UNC’s Shuford Program. With Odum, she’ll be helping to manage our social media accounts, updating our website, and writing her own individual pieces—so be sure to keep an eye out!
Born originally in Togo, West Africa, Emma and her family settled in Greensboro, NC, when she was five years old, and she lived there until making the move to Chapel Hill to attend UNC.
Now in her final year, she can’t help but reflect on the last four years. One thing is for certain: she wouldn’t have gone to any other school. From the opportunities, to the growth and amazing people she’s met here, she’s grateful for what Chapel Hill has taught her—and not just in the classroom.
Being in the Hussman School of Journalism and Media, Emma found the position at Odum to be the perfect opportunity to perfect her craft in the content marketing realm. With a love for helping people and building brand awareness, she’s looking forward to using her skills to promote Odum’s image and bolster her own experience along the way. In the future, she hopes to become a creative director for a major fashion brand or tech company like Apple. She has a lot of great ideas regarding creativity in advertising, so building her own creative agency isn’t out of the question either.
In her free time, you can catch Emma cooking up a storm, a hobby she’s loved ever since spending days in the kitchen with her mom. She’s also taken up sewing since the summer, all while watching Selling Sunset, Manifest and The 100 (be sure to ask her about them sometime).
